Tenants - things you need to know

We subscribe to the Dunedin Student Tenancy Accommodation Rating Scheme (STARS) which audits our student properties against criteria for fire safety, security, insulation, heating and ventilation - meaning our properties are transparent about their claims of suitability. You can check these on the property listings.

All student properties have whiteware (washing machine, clothes dryer, oven/range, microwave, fridge-freezer); thermal curtains, carpets, individually lockable rooms.  All properties are current with the Healthy Homes Standards, and are insulated, heated and ventilated correctly .  There is a working smoke alarms within 3m of every bedroom.  Some properties also have a dishwasher, and most have an externally vented clothes drier.

If a lease is “fixed term” it is 1 Jan – 31 Dec, unless otherwise stated.

Tenants are “jointly and severally liable” on the lease – this means all are equally responsible for responsiblities in the Tenancy Agreement.
