Tenants - things you need to know
We subscribe to the Dunedin Student Tenancy Accommodation Rating Scheme (STARS) which audits our student properties against criteria for fire safety, security, insulation, heating and ventilation - meaning our properties are transparent about their claims of suitability. You can check these on the property listings.
All student properties have whiteware (washing machine, clothes dryer, oven/range, microwave, fridge-freezer); thermal curtains, carpets, individually lockable rooms. All properties are current with the Healthy Homes Standards, and are fully insulated. All bedrooms and the living area have working smoke alarms. Some properties also have a range hood (or are having one added in 2021), and/or dishwasher. All bathrooms have a heater and extractor fan to reduce mould.
If a lease is “fixed term” it is 1 Jan – 31 Dec, unless otherwise stated.
Tenants are “jointly and severally liable” on the lease – this means all are equally responsible for any breaches in the Tenancy Agreement.
